Seniors planning beach picnic

Kailua-Kona Seniors meets at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Old Kona Airport Park pavilion.

The group will hold a brown bag picnic, play games and enjoy the ocean. Attendees may bring chairs.

Correa, Okinaka honored by club

The Aloha Exchange Club of East Hawaii recognized Sgt. James Correa as “Officer of the Year” and Capt. Darwin Okinaka as “Firefighter of the Year” in a dinner ceremony Thursday evening.

Correa, who joined the Hawaii Police Department in March 1998, is assigned to the South Hilo District, where he heads the Special Enforcement Unit. Okinaka joined the Hawaii County Fire Department in May 2000 and is in charge of the Training Bureau.

Co-Dependents women’s group meets Thursday

A Co-Dependents Anonymous women’s meeting will be held from noon to 1 p.m Thursday at Unity Church Sanctuary, 75-5722 Hanama Place in Kailua-Kona. The 12-step fellowship is comprised of those whose purpose is recovery from codependence and the development and maintenance of healthy relationships. The group is supported by the voluntary contributions of attending members.
